Timaru Richard Pearse Airport (TIU)

Timaru

The Richard Pearse Airport (or sometimes also simply called Timaru Airport), is located 10 km north of Timaru city center. The airport is named after the aviation pioneer Richard Pearse who allegedly flew before the Wright Brothers. The airport is small with hardly any facilities (there are toilets and vending machines though). Eagle Air used to fly to Timaru but at the moment only Air Nelson, a Air New Zealand link subsidiary, has flights to Wellington.

Timaru Richard Pearse Airport

How to get from the airport to Timaru city centre by public transport?

Best to arrange your transport before your flights as transport options at the airport are very limited. There is not any bus or shuttle service and also taxis are not always present. Best to call the taxi company to arrange a pick up (at 03 688 88 99). Avis and Hertz have an office here to rent a car.
