Sydney Airport looks to Asian low-cost carriers for growth

Sydney Airport expects low-cost carriers from Asia will continue to drive international traffic growth as the airlines take delivery of large numbers of new aircraft in the coming years, says chief executive Kerrie Mather.

"We have an open door - we are talking to everybody," she said of the potential for future services, having recently attracted budget Filipino carrier Cebu Pacific.

Indonesia AirAsia X, Thai AirAsia X and Thai carrier NokScoot are among the airlines that have flagged Australia as a potential future destination.
