Garuda Indonesia flies to top spot with social media activities
With an aim to be the leading airlines in its home turf, Garuda Indonesia put a renewed focus on its digital and social media strategy "“ what with its target consumers getting swayed more and more by social media. The airlines appointed LiquidThread, a division of Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) to handle its social and digital media plans.
Talking about the focus on social media, Amelia Nasution, VP Marketing of Garuda International, said, "œAs Garuda Indonesia bids to become one of the leading national airlines for Indonesia and the region, we recognize that the social media space is an important channel for us to reach out and engage with our customers online." With this in mind, Garuda asked LiquidThread to oversee its social media assets on Facebook and Twitter among others, and to oversee community management plus other social media marketing efforts.
On partnering with Garuda Indonesia, Ruwie Rahardjo, director of LiquidThread Indonesia and head of Social Media, SEA for SMG, added, "œWe're delighted to be partnering with Garuda Indonesia for their social media marketing efforts. The social media space is an untapped avenue and presents a host of opportunities for brand building and strengthening relationships with customers."
