Things to see

When in Hanoi, you can see the icon of this city named Hanoi Flag Tower. This 33 meters monument has been the icon of Hanoi since 1812. Come to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum to see the embalmed corpse of Ho Chi Minh. He was a countryman who proclaimed Vietnam's independence. You can see interesting doll performance above a pond in Thang Long Water Puppet Theater. Not far from the theater, you can see the beauty of Hoan Kiem Lake located in The Old Quarter. At the centre of the lake, there's Turtle Tower, a small pagoda. Hanoi Hilton, usually called as Hell's Hole, are ready to give you scary atmosphere for this museum was a prison in the time of Vietnam War. In this museum, you can see many collections, pictures and dioramas describing prison condition in the past.

Things to do

Historical buildings located in The Old Quarter are interesting destinations you can take pictures of with your camera, one of them is St. Joseph's Cathedral which was an ancient church with neo gothic architecture. The condition around the area is also worthy to be captured with your camera. Going around in Temple of Literature is one agenda you can do when you're in Hanoi. Going around Ha Long Bay using boat is also one thing you have to do for there's a beautiful nature scenery you can see and enjoy.

The typical food you can easily find in Hanoi is pho. Pho is the original food of Vietnam. This food looks like noodle soup with sliced beef of or chicken and usually served with cakwe. Xoi, sticky or glutinous rice with various topping, is another typical food you can try. For you who love pork, you can try bun cha, a roasted pork with thin rice noodle, sweet sour broth and spring rolls. Enjoy also eating roasted chicken in Ly Van Phuc, usually called as Chicken Street for there are many merchants selling typical roasted chicken of Hanoi. You can also find various extreme foods in Hanoi like fried scorpion, toasted cricket, ants egg sticky rice and many foods made from snake meat.
